“Our New Home” was created in honor of all the young families I know who purchased new homes in 2019. You can see the pride of the adults and the excitement of their children as they stand in the yard of the beautiful house that is now theirs. It is truly a place to create new family memories. The trees in the piece also reflect a bit of my own family history. When my mother and her siblings grew up in the Summerhill neighborhood of Atlanta, they lived in a house with a large apple tree in the yard which led to their being called the “Apple Tree Children.”
