A young friend recently shared a photo of herself standing in a field of sunflowers on Instagram. The colors and composition were very graphic and I was instantly drawn to it as an inspiration for an art quilt. I simplified the sunflower treatment and changed to a sunny day, but left the placement of the other elements intact. I also decided to do a pieced border so the quilt looked like a “bleed” photo rather than a framed one. Overall, I was very happy with how this one turned out.
